BHR Students and Grads in the News

We take immense pride in the accomplishments of our students and graduates.  This page is intended to highlight their achievements that make headlines.  When you read these articles, you will immediately recognize the incomparably high caliber of the young men and women who attend Blue Hills.

One of this school’s most distinguished graduates is Scott D. Tingle of Randolph, who is a member of the BHR Class of 1983.  (See photo above; left to right, Scott D. Tingle, former District School Committee member Bernard H. Baher of Avon, District School Committee Chairman Aidan G. Maguire, Jr. of Canton, and former District School Committee member Joseph A. Pascarella of Dedham. Both Mr. Maguire and Mr. Pascarella graduated from Blue Hills themselves, in 1979 and 1989, respectively.  Today, they are highly successful businesspeople.)

Mr. Tingle cherished a dream of becoming an astronaut, even back in the days when he walked the hallways of this school a generation ago.  He became a Commander in the US Navy, and in November 2011, he finished months of intensive training and became a NASA astronaut, thus joining an elite group of men and women who boldly explore the heavens.

A true hero, leader, and patriot, Mr. Tingle’s adventurous spirit and implacable desire to serve his country set him apart.  We were honored to have him at Blue Hills to be the keynote speaker at Graduation in 2012.  His remarkable career proves that with a Blue Hills education, the sky is truly the limit.
